2012 CookieFest meets Success!
Thank you to the hundreds of shoppers, volunteers and plain ol’ cookie lovers who, on December 8th, lept out of bed and scurried down to Macy’s in honor of Seattle Milk Fund’s Annual CookieFest. At 9:00 am, more than 100 individuals stood in line, awaiting the doors to open. Many of which were repeat CookieFest lovers at that.
As doors opened, shoppers reached for large white cookie boxes and began filling them with decadent treats from more than twenty bakeries including Alki Bakery, Borracchini’s, WOW Bakery with their delicious gluten free delicacies, and Schwartz Brothers Bakery. We had krinkles, christmas trees, frango mint options and so many more. Some bakeries booths were empty and cleared out in the first twenty to thirty minutes after doors opened. More than twenty bakers (full list below) stepped up to produce hundreds of dozens of cookies for this annual event.
Many customers shared how they look forward to this annual jolly event, coming since childhood, or for many, many years. Others came across CookieFest for the first time, through a flyer in their hotel room, shopping in Macy’s, or a neighbor. Some of our most loyal CookieFesters even bring their own Tupperware containers for immediate freezing for the holiday season ahead! Any way they do, CookieFest lovers arrive with great expectations and leave with grand feelings and scrumptiously filled containers of cookies.
Coming from Seattle and the surrounding neighborhoods, to as far away as Port Orchard and even Salem, Oregon, thank you to all our cookie lovers who helped Raise More Than $15,000. Thank you to our bakers and especially to Macy’s who offers the space, the cashiers, marketing and so much more. This is definitely a community supported event each year and one that continues our efforts to provide educational and childcare grants for parents attending full time college and ensures their children receive healthy starts through quality child programs. It’s these community efforts, that help reduce the likelihood a child lives in poverty. Thank you Cookie Lovers!
